New Beginnings

As it comes to the end of the quater I became very happy. Happy that school was over and I would finally have a break. But then I came to the realization that school is not over for good. Just some of my classes are. What will I do when school if finally over. Will I want it to be over? Because then I will be in the real world and have to face life. I will actually have to grow up. I also realized that I do not want to grow up. I want to be a kid forever so I can always have fun and never have responsibilities. I wish life was like the reality show Girls Next Door. I just want to be able to do whatever I want all the time. I know that is not realistic but thats what I want. I want to live life how everyone does. Just have fun. So as this quarter comes to an end my new beginning is going to be to have fun. Not take life too seriously because it can end so soon. Im not saying that I am going to be destructive and not care about anything or my morals, but based on my morals I am going to have fun.

Live life to the fullest. :]

Karma

Im sure you all know what karma is but for those of you who dont, karma is the consequences of your actions. Say you do something hurtful to someone else, its the idea that because you did that then something bad will happen to you. I for one beleive in karma, but not everyone does.
I am going to try and get you to believe in it. Think about something that you have done to hurt someone. Has anyone hurt you in that same way? Im sure someone has. And if it has not happened to you, believe me it will. I know many people who have said that they do not believe in it and are totally against it and then once something has happend to them then they really see what karma is all about.
I used to not believe in karma and just think that stuff just happens. I used to treat boys like crap and then finally one did that to me. That definetly was my karma.

Evil

We have been talking in class about God. And the statement always comes up about if their is evil in the world how could their be a God, especially when God says he is all good and all powerful. I feel that just the fact that their is evil in the world would prove that their is a God. Because think of all the miracles that he does. And God also says he gives us our own free will. If their was not the evil in the world that their is then we would not have our free will. The opportunity to choose between what is right and what is wrong. Just because there is evil does not mean that there is no God. because if there was no God then their would be no good and everything would be evil. God gives us the chance to choose for ourselves what we want with our life, whether it is good or bad we have the choice.

Their is definetly evil in this world and some very messed up stuff that happens. But God is their in the end. And many people would not say that it is enough to make up for all the evil that happens on the earth. But maybe it does. Just to think about how amazing it would be in heaven. Obviously I do not know what it is like, but my faith lets me believe that in the end everything will be worth it. Just like you have to go through a storm to get to the rainbow. :]

Ethics

We have been talking about ethics this week and I thought what everyone said was interesting. First, how do we say what is moral and what is not moral? Because there are so many different situations that would change whether or not something is moral. Is something ever unmoral? I was trying to think of something that would always be unmoral and it was very difficult. Of course raping someone is unmoral, but what situation could this very disgusting act be okay? What if be raping one person you would save the whole world? I know this is very extreme situation and would probably never happen, but everyone else would say it was moral then.
Now that we say we cannot define morality very easily, people ask if God is under the moral code. I believe that he is not. God made this law. He is all good and cannot do anything wrong. And although He allows bad things to happen He would not be the same God as we know him to be. Then he would just be our controller and we would not have a choice in anything we do. So basically we cannot even define morality to one simple thing because if we say it is what you feel in your heart to be right then many horrible things would happen. For some people do not have the best of hearts and feel that some things that are very crude is fine to do unto others because they feel it is right, or the other person deserves it.

I believe everyone should just think of others feelings first, and that would be a good start. I know it does not work for everything but it does work for a lot. :]

Change

What is change? Obama keeps talking about making change but he does not really say what that is. All he says is that he wants change and to make that change, but what change is he making? The only one thing he can really say he wants to do for sure is to change the health care to be government run. But what would this change do? Think about all things that are government run, such as the DMV. People hate going there because it takes so long and the people there are not very pleasant. Well this would be what the health care would be like, long lines and not very good service because the doctors would not have to worry if you like them or not for they get paid no matter what. Privatized health care works for many reason, there is always compition in the field so costumers can get the best work for the cheapest price. Although our health care system is not perfect, it provides extremely good service to most people.
Other than health care what has Obama said? NOTHING substantive. His only comments are about spreading the wealth around which is a socialist concept. That would mean the government decides who gets what and how much, which will not be alot. Is that the change you want?

Myself.

We have been talking alot this week about the "self" and if you can really know who you are? Well thats a very tough question because we do change so much and anything could happen to change what we though to be ourselves. In a way I believe that you can only describe yourself as changing. Some people like to say well I know who I am and what I stand for. Such as people saying they have strong faith or say that they are optimistic. Well things could happen to them and change that really fast. Such as if ones husband died. They could lose the faith they have in God and turn away from him blaming him for what happened. Many examples could be given of this change. Just like we learn more about life as we get older so our perceptions change. And yes essentially you are the same person having had many experience but what if you did not have these experiences or different ones. Would you still be the same person?

I dont believe anyone truely knows themselves because soo much could happen to make what you thought of yourself to be untrue. Even though this is not a good way to describe yourself I have no doubt that anyone could describe themselves in a way but to say they are changing.

Tomorrow.

I feel that too many people take things for granted, and I am one of them. People will be in little fights over nothing with the people they love most. But these fights are pointless. You never now whether or not you will see the person again and how will you feel if you treated them badly and never saw them again. Once the person is gone then they wish they could take the things back that they did, but why do they have to do it in the first place. People know that anyone could die at any moment, its a fact. So why would they let little things get between them when they know that there is a chance that they wont see them again. It because they think that it will not happen to them. But one day it will, it does to everyone, and then they will be saying what other people have said. How could I have let something so minute come between us?

I duno, I was just thinking about life and how everyone takes it for granted. I wish things were different and people realized how lucky they were for every second of it that they have and not let another day pass of the pointless fights and arguments. LIFE should be more than what it is today, it needs to be cherished.

Dodging Cones

So everday when Im driving down my street I always see cones put out blocking the road. Parents do it to make drivers slow down so their children wont get hit. I deal with these everday. I am not against safety, but I do get very annoyed when I am dodge cones driving down my street.

When I was a child, all the children on my block would look out for cars. Whenever we would see a car we would yell "CAR!" and everyone would run to the sidewalk. Nowadays, children could care less if there is a car in the street. Ill be drving waiting for them to move, and the keep riding their bike or playing in the middle of the street, as if I have all day to wait for them.

Safety is very important to me, but parents cannot just block the road so thier kids can play without telling them to get out of the road when there are cars. Its a two way effort and it gets old dodging cones when kids dont even care if your in the road or not.

Photobucket

I came across this cartoon and it helped me to realize something. Alot of people say that George Bush should have known about 9/11. But with all the threats that America gets how are they supposed to know which is true or which is just some kids playing a prank. And now that George Bush is trying to protect us, by ways that do invade privacy people are getting mad. Yes, people deserve privacy, but what it comes down to alot of the time is privacy or protection.

Say George Bush could have figured out that the attacks of 9/11 were to happen, in order for him to have gotten that information would be by invading americans privacy. Dont get me wrong, I dont agree with everything that Bush has done while in presidency but I feel that some people are way too rediculous in what they expect. They want safety, but in order to have complete safety one would have to give up their privacy.

I just wish people were more realistic in the world we live in.

The Question of Knowledge

We have been talking alot this week about what knowledge is and if we can actually have it. As Descartes begins be to get knowledge is throug doubting. Doubt everything. So if we do doubt everything how can we know anything in the first place. Are we alive? Or is it like we were talking about in class all just a dream? But if it were just a dream what would be the point? If we were all living in a dream there would be no point of trying to attain knowledge nor would there be a point of living. So as to what I think, the one thing we should not question is whether or not we are living or in a dream. Because if you do that then there would make it no point for actually having knowledge.

We should just begin by trying to attain knowledge by beliving that we are alive and it is not just a dream and go from there. Doubt everthing else, but do not doubt your life. Recieve wisdom by doubting what you have known to be true your whole life. But do not try to get it by doubting your life. Because if you begin to doubt your life then there would be no reason to even have the knowledge for you would not know if it were true knowledge or just what your "dreamt" to be knowledge.
